WHAT IT IS
Crystal meth is a form of methamphetamine that looks like small fragments of glass or shiny blue-white rocks.

  • It is a powerful and addictive man-made drug that causes aggression and violent of psychotic behavior.
  • Many users report getting addicted from the first time they use it.
  • It is one of the hardest drugs to treat.  

HOW IT’S PASSED THROUGH THE BODY

  • After smoking or inhaling meth it first enters the lungs, then it then travels to the heart, and eventually makes its way to the brain.
  • When orally ingesting meth, it travels to the stomach and small intestine into the bloodstream. As a result enzymes in the stomach break down the meth, metabolizing it so it gets sent to the brain.

SHORT TERM EFFECTS

  • Nausea
  • Delusions of power
  • Increased aggressiveness and irritability
  • Weight loss

LONG TERM EFFECTS

  • Increased heart rate and blood pressure
  • Damage to blood vessels in the brain, leading to strokes or irregular heartbeat and cardiovascular collapse or death
  • Liver, kidney, and lung damage
  • Brain damage
