Last weekend the girls tennis team had their last match where unfortunately they did not qualify for state. With this loss the coach for the girls and boys tennis teams is not giving up. Coach Joseph Bliven when asked about the girls tennis team said “Next year I’ll have some younger players with the necessary experience to pick up the 2 varsity spots that will be lost due to graduation and I’m optimistic that we will be able to compete at WAC next year.” The assistant coach Renee Buntain who coaches the girls JV tennis Team commented “I feel our JV team did very well this year based on the improvements that I noticed throughout the season. Several of our players had never played tennis before and their skill level increased significantly.” The coaches are not the only ones optimistic for next year Varsity teammate Jessica Nieto said “Next year our goal is to better in WAC. We did okay but I’m sure we can do better.” Next year is looking good for the Great Bend girls tennis team, and everyone will be expecting great things from the players and the coaches.
