What is Judgement House

Caitlin Schmitt, Writer

Judgement House is a walk through play put on by the Great Bend Church of the Nazarene. Most of the city of Great Bend and surrounding cities know of and/or have been to Judgement House, but what most of the goers don’t know is that Judgement House is a worldwide organization, and there’s a fee to be paid in order to put it on. This will be the Church of the Nazarene’s tenth year putting on the play, and this will be their ninth different script.

The title of this year’s play is THE SILENT KILLER. The silent killer is about a family that goes out for pizza, comes home to watch TV, and then goes to bed. A few days later the police find all of them dead. The cause?  Carbon Monoxide. In the last three scenes, you will get to witness which family members have chosen God as their savior, and unfortunately, which ones have not. The play is a total of six scenes.

Dale Pruter, one of the men who have put a lot of work into this year’s play said, “A lot of times people don’t realize that judgement house is a worldwide organization. We have to get approval for our scripts. We have to pay our right to perform the judgement houses. Multiple local churches and the community come together to put it together. Pratt, and Topeka have one also, and Wichita puts on two; All around Halloween each year.”

“Our hope is that Judgement House will help the people that haven’t chosen Christ into their life do so,” said Kenny Pruter, a tour guide for the event.
