Fight Like a Girl!

October 10th, the girls tennis team went to Regionals in Salina, and over all, they did well. Macy Moyers, senior, qualified for state and all of the other girls played great as well. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the girls wanted to show their support. Like most people, each of the members know someone that has or had cancer.

Cancer is devastating, it’s not a secret.  The hospital visits, the chemo, the radiation; it’s all very overwhelming, not only for the patient and the impact on their body, but also for the family and friends too.

One of the team members has a relative who is battling breast cancer; another girl on the team also had a relative who has beat breast cancer. The team is very close, so they all wanted to show some support, and a parent of a team member made sure that they did. Pink uniforms were made that read across the shirt “Fight like a girl”, and all of the team wore them to regionals showing their love for those who are battling and have battled breast cancer. What really made the shirts special was that the names of women who were related to team members were on the back of the shirts. It was awesome seeing all the girls proudly representing Great Bend and also showing their support for breast cancer.
