Panthers End Up Short on Homecoming

Last Friday night, the Great Bend Boys Basketball team attempted to upset the number three ranked team in 4A, the Buhler Crusaders. The Panthers rallied the first half, finishing the half up by one. Juniors Jacob Murray and Kody Crosby both started the second half with three pointers each. Buhler began to run away with the game during the third quarter. Great Bend fought back at the beginning of the fourth quarter, being down by only four. The Panthers ended up scoring only ten more points the rest of the game.Buhler ended up winning 72 to 61.

Individually, Kody Crosby finished with 21 points and went 5-of-6 from behind the arc. Jacob Murray ended with 18 points and hit 5-of-9 3-pointers. Overall, the boys made twelve 3-pointers, tying with the school record. “I feel confident. We are playing better than the beginning of the season. I’m hoping we’ll win a few games in the tournament too,” says Murray.

The Panthers head to El Dorado this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to compete in the El Dorado Tournament. They will be taking on Wichita Kapaun Mt. Carmel at 3p.m. on Thursday.
