Oh the places you’ll go.. this Christmas

Caitlin Schmitt, Editor/Writer

Christmas break is exciting to students across the nation for many reasons. One big reason is finals are over and you passed (or failed) your classes for the semester! Another is no school which includes no homework, no dealing with peers and sleeping in. I sent out two surveys to the students of GBHS. The first survey asked what they plan on doing during break, and what their favorite part of break is. The second survey asked if the students had plans to travel, and what they most want for Christmas.

What percent of our students are…

Traveling: 33%

Going to eat well over enough food: 52%

Sleeping in: 74%

Hanging out with friends: 50%

Playing video games: 37%

Spending time with family: 75%

When the students were asked to choose which is their favorite between seeing friends/family, all the food, sleeping in, and no school, our student body’s overall favorite thing about break is having no school.

This Christmas, A LOT of traveling is going to take place for the students of GBHS. We have students traveling to towns across the state including Hoisington, Ellinwood, Lawrence, Clay Center, Salina, Hays, Scott City, Wichita, Ottawa, Oakley, Kansas City, Manhattan, Lacrosse, Concordia and Wichita.

We also have students traveling to different states including Louisiana, New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma, Georgia, Missouri, Texas, Tennessee.

Whether you’re leaving Great Bend, or Kansas, or the country please have a safe and fun break! Go outside to make snow angels, drive around looking at Christmas lights, make time for friends and family, eats lots of delicious food and enjoy your short period of time off school.

Jaylan Rankin, senior says her favorite Christmas present will be “watching my family’s facial expressions while they open their presents,”.

Ruth Reyes, sophomore says “For christmas  I want to go to Juarez to visit my mom and siblings and I want to go to Namiquipa to visit my grandpa,”.
