Clubs and organizations can beneficial to students. They help us students create new friends, strengthen leadership, and build up communication skills. Here at our school we have many clubs like El Sol, FBLA, FFA, Kayettes, and many others that can be beneficiary to not only freshman, but to all students. As a freshmen there can be many advantages to joining clubs on your first year of high school.

Admissions committees are usually interested in seeing sustained involvement and increased responsibility or leadership roles in activities throughout your high school years…Freshmen year is the time to find the right activities for you.¹ So as a freshmen or any upperclassmen it’s significant to join clubs. Club officers and sponsors tried promoting clubs to up the involvement of freshmen. Erin Bentley, FEA club sponsor, said, “I did email all students this year to promote the club and I specifically mentioned to the freshmen that we need a board member from their class, through email. I think that this has lead to our overall increase in participation in the club. Last year we had approximately 30 members. Today we have 51.”

Club involvement is not only important for freshmen, it is important for all students. Ellie Anspaugh (Sr) said, “Being involved in a club is very important because it reflects who you are and benefits you in the future.” Keeping up with a club and even ranking up to become a club officer not only looks good on a college resume, but it can also shape you as a person.
