For as long as people can remember friday the 13th has been known as one of the unluckiest days that a person can have, but why is this day known to be so unlucky? There are multiple theories as to why this day is known to be so unlucky, in the Christian religion theories on Friday the 13th are that it is rooted with the 13th guest at the last supper and how he betrayed Jesus, it was the day that Eve gave Adam the apple, or how Friday the 13th was the day that Cain killed Abel who were brothers in the Bible. Another theory from mathematics and scientists is that 13 is so unlucky because 12 is known as a complete number for instance there are 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the zodiac, 12 gods of Olympus, 12 labors of Hercules, 12 tribes of Israel, and 12 apostles of Jesus. You may have also noticed that most hotels do not have a floor 13. This is because, of the fear of the number 13 which is called triskaidekaphobia (tris-kahy-dek-uh-foh-bee-uh). Let’s hope the bad luck of Friday the 13th doesn’t ruin the extra day off that the students of GBHS get for finishing the first quarter.
