The Best MCU Movies According to a Film Major
December 15, 2021
- Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019)
- I love this movie so much it is insane and no it is not because it has Tom Holland. While I do think he is a great actor, he is a very misule reason of why this movie is my favorite. I saw this the day it came out and have been in love with it since. I love that there is so many locations that we see in the movie. I love the AC/DC-Led Zeppelin allusion. Happy Hogan in general makes this movie so much funnier. Zendaya’s character, MJ, is such a mysterious person. You never know what is going on in her head or what she is going to do next and that makes her intriguing. Overall, the entire movie has so many twists and turns, and with Mysterio’s powers you cannot tell what is real and what is not.
- Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
- This movie was my favorite up until Spider-Man: Far From Home was released. I made a whole video on this movie in 2019 because of all the things I love about it (Thor: Ragnarok Movie Review). One of my favorite things about this movie is how there is no love story. Almost every other movie on the list has a main love story and it can just get in the way of the plot. I think previous Thor movies struggled but Taika Waititi really brought the humor that this series was missing. I think it is funny how Thor is now aware of Loki’s tricks. Overall, a great movie.
- WandaVision (2021)
- This was the first Marvel Disney+ show ever released so I was a little hesitant, but I was blown away. I already love Wanda but she is not even the best part of this series. There are so many things I love about this but I will try and keep it short. I love period pieces, and this covers all the periods. We see characters like Monica and Jimmy Woo who we did not expect to see again. We see an aftermath of Endgame. I also surprisingly like the show format versus the movie. It had me on the edge of my seat every week and thinking about it constantly for nine weeks straight. An absolute win.
- Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
- Now, I love movies, but I also really love music. So, this movie was a perfect blend of both. I also love a good team-up movie. All these characters are unique and have their own personalities and it is so interesting to see how they work with each other. Also, who doesn’t love Groot?
- Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
- Age of Ultron had a great plot. It was one of the first movies that you could really tell that these people know each other and have history. Also after meeting the twins in a post-credit scene, it was exciting to see them in action. Once again, I love Wanda. I think Ultron also was a good villain for them, especially Tony, because he knew them, he analyzed them. He actually brought a challenge to the table and made a great movie.
- Black Widow (2021)
- This movie really showed a real-world issue. Human-trafficking is scary and turning them into spies, while not realistic, is freighting. Also I enjoyed seeing more from Natasha because she had always been a side character before.I love Yelena and her human and her whole family really. The opening credits were absolutely haunting in the best way. The Smells Like Teen Spirit cover is beautiful. One final note, I will never listen to American Pie the same way again and I’m not mad about it.
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
- I’m not a Captain America fan, but I am a Winter Soldier fan, so this movie is good for that. I also like Nat. It was interesting to see how SHIELD wasn’t what we thought it was. It was one of my favorite plots. I literally cried when Nick Fury “died.
- Captain Marvel (2019)
- All I have to say about this is girl power!
- The Avengers (2012)
- First team up movie. Tony is so witty and it is great. Bruce’s suicide line hit hard. Loki is so smart it is scary, but Nat is even smarter.
- Loki (2021)
- I like Loki finally being in the spotlight but I wish they would have left the love story out of it. I like how it sets up phase four and how it explains all the unexplained things.
- Doctor Strange (2016)
- I have always said my favorite infinity stone is the time stone and this movie is the reason why. It is the most powerful stone in my opinion. Also Stephen’s character arc from jerk to hero. though cliche, is powerful.
- Avengers: Endgame (2019)
- I love Tony so much so this movie hurt me but I was glad to see all of the well known faces back in action. The girl power scene was awesome. It was cool to finally see captain marvel with the avengers. The only critic is I HATE CAP’S ENDING. It was dumb.
- Ant-Man (2015)
- I love paul rudd so this is an immediate win. But also the way they absolutely dogged on him the entire movie is iconic. I love the humor movies so this is right up my alley.
- Iron Man 2 (2010)
- Not my favorite movie. The plot was thin. THe villain kinda sucked. It just was not the best.
- The Falcon and The Winter Soldier (2021)
- Similar to iron man 2, vague plot. I did like the villian but i was hoping for a redemption arc and not killing her off. It was alright though because Bucky is great and new cap suit is amazing.
- Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018)
- Hope is my favorite character. She is so independent and she doesn’t need scott but she feels bad for him. I like how they shrink stuff and the ants play house arrest.
- Captain America: Civil War (2016)
- Not really a cap movie, this is an avengers movie. THis is controversial, but I was team iron man. Cap is just too all over the place. Tony was thinking with his brain and steve was thinking with his heart.
- Avengers Infinity War (2018)
- All my favorite characters died but the story line was good. Made me angry at star lord but overall good.
- Iron Man 3 (2013)
- Too many plot holes. Though the end with bruce is iconic.
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
- THe only saving grace about this movie is baby groot. It feels so bland.
- Iron Man (2008)
- THis is what started it all but they have come so far since. (Negaard’s Fav)
- Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
- What even is the plot of this movie?
- Thor: The Dark World (2013)
- Dark elves and the idea is cool but it was poorly executed.
- Thor (2011)
- Maybe would be higher if thor had eyebrows.
- Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
- I’m not a history buff so this was pretty boring.
- The Incredible Hulk (2008)
- The most forgettable marvel movie.
- Black Panther (2018)
- Most controversial opinion right here. I did not like this movie. I liked SHuri but everything else bored me to death. I did not like the plot and the villain was subpar.
