Twilight Movie Review
December 7, 2021
The other day, I decided to turn on the popular, cheesy, romance movie Twilight, not to enjoy the movie itself, but to make fun of it. To my surprise, about halfway through, my eyes were glued to the screen, wondering what was going to happen next. This movie has a good storyline that is easy to follow, yet intriguing to watch.
Twilight is a saga that focuses on Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, returning to her small town, Forks, and falling in love with this high school sweetheart named Edward, played by Robert Pattinson. What she didn’t know, though, was that Edward was secretly a vampire. The story follows Bella and Edward’s story of love with several ups, downs, other boys, werewolf’s and plenty more plot twists to grasp anybody’s attention. In addition to the first movie, there are four sequels to this cinematic display.
If you have ever seen the movies, I know what you are thinking. The acting is bad, the plot is really cheesy, the movie is cringe, and the writing is horrible. Well, I agree, but we have to look past that. When you try to dissect the movie critically or look at it in the spectrum of ‘is it modern enough’, then you’re not going to enjoy it. I know this is not easy, but you will enjoy the movie so much more. The first hour, I was just making fun of it and then I actually started paying attention to the main protagonist and the little conflicts in the way and ended up enjoying it.
Overall, even though this isn’t critically well done, and it’s not the best put together movie, it still has a special place in my heart. The directors and writers did its purpose of trying to make a cheesy romance of teen lovers aimed for a younger audience. I’m not saying you’ll we blown away by the movie, but give it a chance, it will hopefully pay off by the end of the story.
