The Great Bend High Panther football team opened their season Friday, September 4th beating the Leavenworth Pioneers 19-17. The game started with a Panther kickoff, and the first to score a touchdown was the Panthers.   Next, the Pioneers scored 17 points and in the last quarter the panthers made a comeback making the score 19-17. The Panthers defense worked very hard for the rest of the quarter to keep the pioneers from scoring, and they kept that from happening. “We definitely have room for improvement on both sides of the ball, but we did a good job of wearing them down with our fast paced offence and controlled, chaotic defense,” said Kade Southard, senior left guard.
