Mental toughness key to Panther softball success
April 28, 2017
Despite the weather the Panther softball team continues to play well. Head coach Carrie Minton has big plans for her players. ”We spent six weeks practicing to see what we need to work on,” she said. “As the season progresses we’ll peak as we go into regionals,”
The Panthers recently played in the Sunflower Classic in Kansas City, where they saw some really great teams. ”We went 1-3 but we were able to see the competition. That will help us as we go into the postseason,” Minton said.
“Our tournaments didn’t go that great because we weren’t mentally ready to play,” said senior center fielder Emma Cape. ”With softball being a contact sport it has to do with our mentality.”
However, Cape believes her team is ready to finish the season.
Senior pitcher Hunter Marcum wants to play in the state tournament “but if we don’t succeed, at least we gave it 100 percent.”
